Free guitar lessons are really a bit of a misnomer. You will always put money into anything you are really interested in and learning the guitar is no exception. If you are looking for free guitar lessons for beginners then read on.
The only place I would look for free guitar lessons is the internet. It helps if you have friends who also play as you can bounce ideas of each other. You will still need to work on your technique to become the next Dave Gilmour. There are great places to look online for this free stuff.
The first place is myspace. Most musicians these days post their music and ideas on myspace and there are lessons there as well. They also know where all the free online music lessons are. I recommend you join up and start socialising with some of these musicians and they will point you in the right direction.
The myspace interface is not for everyone but the youtube website also has many guitar lesson videos. Type play guitar into the search box and you will find some great guitar teachers showing you how to play the guitar. There are so many that it will take you hours to work through them all. One problem with the youtube videos is that the clarity is poor and you cannot always see the detail you need.
The final place to go is a site called jamorama. I have spent quite a bit of time researching this website and I cannot find anything to fault them on. They use video and audio in an innovative way that has you playing from day one.
They offer completely free guitar lessons for beginners and the whole thing is done online. The screen resolution is superior to the youtube videos and of course they are professionally produced and well organised. The website and lessons cover both acoustic and electric guitar. It is very comprehensive
